Fantasy Football | Playoff Picks

Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

What’s going on fantasy fans. Hope your fantasy playoffs have started off on the right foot; I am here to help bring the championship home. I have no bias, so my picks can offer up a objective view to the week ahead. Eliminated from your playoffs? No worries, we’ve got plenty of weekly fantasy football at Fantazzle.

The late season in fantasy football is more about playing the right match ups than it is being loyal to your high draft picks. Following that logic, you must bench Mike Vick. He opposes the solid Jets pass defense, and is much less than 100%. His cracked rids slowed him last week, and the Jets aren’t a defense to get healthy against. Instead, roll with Joe Flacco against the Chargers. He’s playing better than Vick right now (100+ QB Rating in 3 of past 4 games) and faces a middle of the road pass defense.

I realize you likely drafted Rashard Mendenhall as an every week back, but I’m following standard operating procedure and benching running backs that play San Fran. Not only do the 49ers have the leagues best run defense and play this huge game at home, but Mendenhall has underwhelmed this season, averaging only 3.8 yards per carry. On the exact flip side, we’ve got a rested Felix Jones taking on the leagues worst run defense in Tampa Bay. The Cowboys have no depth at RB, and with Murray out for the year, look for Jones to produce in a big way.

Fantasy Football is more of a “what can you do for me now” than it is a “what have you done for me lately” type of game. Julio Jones made his owners jump for joy with two late touchdowns last week, one of which was a 75 yard strike from Matt Ryan, but don’t over rate the Falcons rookie. He has been up and down this year, and doesn’t deserve a spot in your lineup against the Jags on Thursday. Jacksonville’s boasts a stingy defense and runs the ball effectively, limiting Atlanta’s time with the ball. In fact, there is a “JJ” I would rather this weekend: James Jones. Greg Jennings will be sidelined for the remained of the regular season, but the Packers won’t stop passing the ball. Jordy Nelson moves  into Jennings role, and I like Jones to become the teams second option.

2011 Fantasy Football: Week 10 Review

Monday, November 14th, 2011

Week 10 in the NFL gave us yet another exciting day of football. There were plenty of big performances and of course, lots of injuries to go around. Let’s take a look at which players either helped or hurt their owners the most this week in 2011 weekly fantasy football games. Laurent Robinson filled in admirably for the ailing Miles Austin by grabbing 3 catches for 73 yards and 2 touchdowns. That’s his third straight game with at least one touchdown catch and will get the start again next week against the struggling Redskins.

Rob Gronkowski is playing like he’s the best tight end in the league right now. On Sunday night against the Jets, Gronkowski was targeted often and early en route to an 8 catch, 113 yard, 2 touchdown game. The guy is fast, big, can catch and Tom Brady loves going to him, so I wouldn’t bet my chips on anyone else right now at the TE position.

Arian Foster got loose on the Tampa Bay Bucs for 2 touchdowns on 186 total yards and 4 receptions. What else is new? Tony Romo had easily one of his best games of the season with a 148.4 passer rating against the Bills. He completed 23 passes for 270 yards and 3 touchdowns. Larry Fitzgerald also had a huge day in week 10, catching 7 passes for 146 and 2 scores. Demarco Murray also had another highly productive game. He ran for 135 yards, 1 touchdown and caught 6 passes for 36 yards. Roll these guys with confidence for your fantasy football salary cap games in week 11.

As for injuries, Knowshon Moreno tore his ACL in the first quarter against Kansas City. Consider him done for the year! Lance Ball should make for a worthy add, as he ran for 96 yards on 30 carries against K.C. Miles Austin is slated to miss two more weeks with that hamstring, so make sure to add Laurent Robinson for the time being–all leagues. Jermaine Gresham returned to action after missing his last two games with a bum hamstring and went 4/23/1. Andre Johnson missed his 6th game this week even though he had been running for most of the week in practice. Jacoby Jones and Arian Foster were the beneficiaries. Kevin Walter kept on run blocking.

2011 Fantasy Football, Rollin’

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

Week 4 in the NFL is already by us with the exception of Monday night’s game featuring the Buccaneers and Colts. My, how quickly the season goes on. With week 5 upon us and bye weeks sure to screw some managers over, now is the time that you will either pay for your drafting mistakes or benefit from them. Drafting a team that is deep and not just “starter heavy” is crucial to not only fantasy football success, but fantasy sports success in general. Being too “starter heavy” is when your starting roster is full of studs, but you have no talent on the bench in case of injuries and of course, bye weeks.

So, hopefully you not only drafted your team carefully, but you took the time to make certain pickups and/or trades in order to evenly balance your team out so that you are strong on all fronts and strong in case of any roster related disasters. For those who aren’t in leagues, but are playing the monthly or weekly fantasy football leagues, then it’s business as usual for you. Look to exploit certain match-ups in week 5, look for players that have been hot and on a roll and keep the big money for those big time QB’s like Drew Brees and Tom Brady.

For anyone playing our weekly and/or monthly fantasy football games, the way things have been looking so far this season, players I would generally lean toward regardless of who they’re playing on the schedule when selecting your lineups are Adrian Peterson, Fred Jackson, Vincent Jackson, LeSean McCoy, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Hakeem Nicks and Wes Welker. These guys just seem unstoppable right now, so roll them with confidence.

More salary cap fantasy football games and fantasy football challenge games will be starting at 1 o’clock as usual on Sunday, October 9th. Also, it’s still not too late to sign up and register to play Lingerie Fantasy Football powered by Fantazzle. Get in the game and watch these honeys go to battle, it’s some serious business out there, these girls are hitting, they don’t play and they’re sexy too!
