More High Scorers and Injuries After Week 6

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

Matt Forte wasn’t one of the big time, high scorers for week 6 in the 2011 fantasy football season, but he still put together yet another solid game for his owners. Watching Matt Forte run the ball, he looks smooth and always seems to be gaining positive yardage, in big chunks too! I would use his services in salary cap leagues almost every week until he slows down. LeSean McCoy, Fred Jackson and Rashard Mendenhall all had big games this week, going over 120 rushing yards each and a touchdown. Josh Freeman finally broke through with a good QB performance going for 23 completions, 303 yards and 2 touchdowns. One more game like that from him and maybe we can start picking him as a cheap QB option in fantasy football weekly salary cap games.

Tight end, Jimmy Graham had a huge day with 7 catches for 124 yards, and Marques Colston had his first big game of the season bringing in 7 catches, for 118 yards and a score. Lets not forget Frank Gore who had a huge day on the ground too, with 141 yards and a TD. Michael Turner got loose on the grond with 139 and 2, while Devin Hester torched it up on Sunday night with a kick return touchdown and a deep bomb touchdown from Jay Cutler. Hester finished the night with 5 rec, 91, 1 and 134 return yards and the touchdown. Adrian Peterson seemed to be held in check this week with only 39 yards on the ground, but still managed to produce a score, typical AP. Brees was Brees, Brady was Brady and Tony Romo did good too this week, lets move on to injuries.

LeGarrette Blount missed the game this week with a bum knee. The Bucs are saying that he could be out for another couple weeks or so. With the way Earnest Graham produced at tail back this past weekend, I wouldn’t expect the Bucs to rush LeGarrette Blount back into the mix. Look for Earnest Graham to produce quality numbers as the starter. Joseph Addai missed week 6 action with a sensitive hamstring. He might also miss week 7, so look for Donald Brown and Delone Carter to get all the work again next week if Addai can’t go. Brandon Jacobs missed his first game of the season with a hurt knee. We have no word yet on when he’ll be back. He could possibly come back after the Giants’ week 7 bye week.

2011 Fantasy Football: High Scorers & Injuries

Monday, October 10th, 2011

Week 5 of the 2011 fantasy football season had plenty of big games for us managers. As I predicted in our weekly start’em sit’em podcast, Adrian Peterson went off on the Arizona Cardinals for bigger days than Darren McFadden and Arian Foster. Peterson totaled 122 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Kudos to anyone who selected him in our weekly salary cap fantasy football games at Fantazzle. Eli Manning also got loose in week 5 putting up 420 passing yards with three touchdowns and three picks against Seattle. The law firm, BenJarvus Green-Ellis was another bright spot in fantasy football for week 5. He ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns, adding in one catch for 13 yards.

Nate Washington’s day was held in check as I predicted because of that Pittsburgh pass defense, but Matt Hasselbeck did a little better than we expected. I had him getting shut down playing against the Steelers pass D. Victor Cruz also came out and had himself a day with 8 catches for 161 yards and a touchdown. LeSean McCoy was LeSean McCoy and Drew Brees was Drew Brees. LeGarrette Blount was held in check against San Franciso, like we thought and we will see what happens tonight on Monday night football–Lions vs. Bears. All of our week 5 fantasy player predictions can be heard by clicking the link.

Joseph Addai left the game in the second quarter against K.C. with an apparent hamstring injury. Addai said that when you hurt your hamstring, you can feel it tear. This one, he said, felt like a grab, so it could be minor, but stay updated and be ready to scoop Delone Carter who would be in line for most of the touches should Addai need to sit out week 6 and beyond. LeGarrette Blount also left his game with an injury, for him, it was a knee. The Buccaneers were getting blown out all day anyway, so this may have just been something precautionary. We’ll know more about Blount on Wednesday or Thursday. If you have the room on your roster, I would add Earnest Graham just to be safe.

Be sure to check out all our fantasy games and if you haven’t been playing with us already, you need to! Weekly NFL salary cap games will be starting as usual at 1 pm this Sunday. Our college fantasy football games will be kicking off this Thursday at 8 pm. Come and try your luck against the best, if you beat us, then you’re doing something right!

As always, have fun with it and enjoy the week

2011 Fantazzle Fantasy Football Season in Full Swing

Monday, September 19th, 2011

With the final week and a half remaining on the MLB regular season schedule, 2011 fantasy football is kicking into full swing with week 2 now almost completely in the books after tonight’s Monday night game (Giants vs. Rams). There are a few injuries for this last week of baseball that I’ll go over. In the meantime, get ready for some more fantasy football games at Fantazzle, heading into week 3.

OF, Jason Kubel/Minnesota Twins: Currently dealing with a sprained left foot, Jason Kubel may even be shut down for the rest of the season. Even if he is not shut down, his playing time will be limited. Anyone considering Kubel for a daily or weekly fantasy game should look elsewhere for outfield help.

OF, Shin-Soo Choo, Cleveland Indians: Choo will be shut down for the remainder of the regular season with a left rib cage injury. Shin-Soo was pretty much hurt all year and only played in 84 games this season. He only hit .259 all year and probably disappointed most fantasy owners who had high hopes for him this year, considering the solid campaign he had in 2010. Look for a healthy Shin-Soo Choo to try and bounce back something serious in 2012.

3B, Kevin Youkilis, Boston Red Sox: Kevin Youkilis has missed the last three games in dealing with several nagging injuries that he has going on. His hip is bothering him and is also dealing with a case of sports hernia. Manager Terry Francona doesn’t know exactly when Youkilis will be ready to play, but just knows that he needs some down time to relax and heal up a bit. Anyone involved in the daily or weekly fantasy games at Fantazzle would be wise to shy away from Youk for the remainder of the 2011 regular season.

As always, we’ll be having our college salary cap fantasy football games going on at Fantazzle and our NFL salary cap games going on as well. Try the free games or put some money on the line and win big. You can also play pick’em games which are a lot of fun. All you have to do is pick between two players, whoever you think is going to have the bigger game–winner takes all! We talk about these kinds of things all the time anyway amongst our friends, so why not get paid something to do it?

As always, enjoy the week

First week of 2011 College Fantasy Football at Fantazzle coming to a close!

Monday, September 5th, 2011

With tonight’s game between Maryland and Miami (FL), the first week of college fantasy football for the first time ever at Fantazzle will be winding down to a close. As expected, it sure was an exciting first week as we saw many high scores in all of the money games. So now this is business as usual.

For week 2 of salary cap college fantasy football, we will be having the same games available for entry, so be sure to join up and play. Like I always say, there’s a lot of money to be made out there. For those of you still in 2011 fantasy baseball leagues who have playoffs to worry about, check out some key names who are either coming or going with injuries for this new week.

OF, Carlos Quentin/Chicago White Sox: As of August 21, Carlos Quentin has been on the 15-day DL with a sprained left shoulder. He was eligible to come off today, but will most likely be kept on the DL because he is too far from a return and his shoulder is not yet ready for big league action. Consider Quentin down and out for at least the next two weeks.

OF, Cameron Maybin/San Diego Padres: Cameron Maybin has missed a string of 8 games because of a sore right wrist. He was hitting well up until that point and was also providing fantasy owners with good speed on the base paths too. He is penciled in for today’s game against the Giants, so we will see if he can step right in and continue to rake at the plate, or if he will need a few games to get his stroke back under him. Based on the season he’s having so far, I don’t think it will take him too long to get re-adjusted. Look for Maybin to have a solid week’s output beginning today–Monday.

SP, Stephen Strasburg/Washington Nationals: Stephen Strasburg is scheduled to make his first start of this season on Tuesday night, at home, against the Dodgers. Hopefully all will go well for him, so that potential fantasy owners for next year can be excited for what this kid has to offer. Having Tommy John surgery pretty much ruined Strasburg’s rookie year and most of his sophomore year, so next year, which will be his third, should be a coming out party for the flame thrower.

Remember to be a part of all the 2011 salary cap college fantasy football excitement at Fantazzle. This is the first year that we are doing it, so we’ll be sure to kick things off the right way as you saw in week 1 with the free roll, $100 prize. Entry fees and prizes may change on a week to week basis, but you get the point, either way you go, there is still plenty of money to be won off of what you know in this world of sports!

The NFL regular season is also starting this Thursday at 8pm, with the Saints taking on the Green Bay Packers, so be sure to get your lineups in for week 1 of 2011 NFL fantasy football action as well. We have weekly fantasy football games and monthly ones too, so choose your strategy and pick which ever one works best for you. As always take care, enjoy the week, and go make that money!
