2012 Weekly Fantasy Sports: Football and Basketball

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

It looks like we get to see the Giants and Patriots in yet another super bowl game. The 2012 fantasy football season is finally winding down to a close with the super bowl and pro bowl being the last two games of the fantasy season. Those of you in the fantasy football playoff challenge games are reaping good benefits if you chose any Patriots or Giants players.

Sunday against the 49ers, Eli Manning completed 32 passes on 58 attempts for 316 yards, 2 touchdowns and no picks. Joe Flacco tried his hardest and led the day with Eli Manning, throwing for 306/2/1. Had Lee Evans held onto that late second touchdown pass from Joe Flacco like a falling baby, then maybe we’d be seeing the Ravens and Giants on Super Bowl Sunday instead, but oh well, that’s football for you.

Victor Cruz, once again, had yet another stellar outing. He caught 10 clutch balls for 142 yards. Vernon Davis also showed up to play once again, catching only 3 passes, but for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns. He had a long of 73 yards. Finally, VD’s speed is being utilized the way we all envisioned on his draft day! Anquan Boldin tried desperately to get his team in scoring position late in the 4th quarter with several big catch and runs. He finished his day with 6 catches for 101 yards.

On to 2012 fantasy basketball, Dirk Nowitzki will miss about 4 games in order to get his so-called conditioning in check. I do think that with the shortened season, we are seeing some weird things this year. When has Dirk ever missed time due to conditioning issues? Spencer Hawes started out hot, but now is becoming somewhat of an injury nuisance. You can’t rely on players in fantasy basketball games if they’re going to be in and out of the lineup all the time. Joakim Noah is either hurt, tired, sore or not producing to his usual levels when he does play, so he’s a bit of a disappointment thus far.

I would stay away from these three guys for this week at least. Check back with us for more next week. As always, remember to get on over to Fantazzle and win money playing fantasy sports games. You can even check out our all new fantasy football pro-bowl game where you choose from only the best players in the league. Have fun and enjoy the week.

2011 Fantasy Football: Week 13 Review

Monday, December 5th, 2011

Greetings everyone,

Jumping right into the biggest gamers of the week, Aaron Rodgers had the most fantasy points for quarterbacks. He threw for 369 yards, 4 touchdowns and 1 pick. Cam Newton was second in line for quarterbacks going 12 completions/204 yards/1 touchdown, 54 rushing yards with 3 touchdowns and then even added in a reception for 27 yards–huge day for the rookie! Drew Brees went 26/342/3 and Christian Ponder went 29/381/3/2. Eli Manning also had another great outing throwing for 347 yards and 3 scores.

Percy Harvin had the biggest day amongst non-quarterbacks, setting a career-high in receiving yards with 156. He had 8 catches, 2 touchdowns and 19 rushing yards as well. Shonn Greene had 88 yards rushing and 3 scores in easily his best game of the season for the Jets. Pierre Garcon went 9/150/2, Rob Gronkowski kept it rolling with 5/64/2 and also caught a 3rd touchdown which was ruled as a carry since he caught the ball as a lateral pass. Anybody playing weekly fantasy football games will want to get these names into their lineups again for next week!

On to injuries, Matt Forte looks to be in serious doubt for the remainder of the fantasy football season. He has a Grade 2 MCL sprain and is week-to-week. Marion Barber becomes the next hottest waiver pick up and should see an increase in carries. On Thursday night, LeSean McCoy was able to play through his toe injury and still managed to put up a 20+. Kevin Smith was able to play with his ailing knee against the Saints, but then had to leave the game once he turned his ankle. Maurice Morris shouldered the load in Smith’s absence and was productive. Kevin Smith should be able to play next week with some rest for that ankle and knee.

Everyone be sure to get on over to Fantazzle and check out all the free games and cash prize games. College fantasy football is taking off and you don’t want to miss out. 2011 Fantasy Football: Week 11 Review

Monday, November 21st, 2011

Happy Monday,

After tonight’s Patriot/Chiefs game, another week of 2011 fantasy football action will be in the books, but not without it’s set of injuries and high scorer updates. Let’s take a look.

Matthew Stafford had the biggest day among all quarterbacks on Sunday, tossing 28 completions for 335 yards, 5 TD’s and 2 INT’s. If it weren’t for his iffy finger and that glove on his throwing hand, I would have started him over Eli Manning who went 18/264/1/1–darn it!

Running back Kevin Smith totaled 201 yards from scrimmage with 3 touchdowns and 6 receptions. Can you say, welcome back Kevin? Definitely look to try and add him to your roster this week in all weekly fantasy football game formats.

Aaron Rodgers threw for 299, 3 TD’s and a pick, Roddy White had a 7 catch, 147 yard game, Jordy Nelson kept his hot streak alive with a 6/123/2 performance and Torrey Smith got behind secondaries again this week finishing with 6/65/1. Let’s not forget about our boy nasty Nate Washington who finished his day off with 9/115/2.

Nate Washington is having a career year right now, so roll him while he’s hot! Johnny Knox had easily his best game of the season this week with 3/97/1 and 74 return yards for those of you in return yardage leagues. Let’s see if he does that again in week 12.

SALARY CAP FANTASY FOOTBALL: TURKEY DAY SPECIAL–> PLAY NOW!

As always, the week just wouldn’t be the same without it’s new set of injuries, so let’s get started. Adrian Peterson limped off the field in the first quarter with a left ankle injury after rushing for 26 yards and a touchdown. It looked as though he was getting ready to have a big game and then he got hurt. For now, he’s considered day-to-day with a high ankle sprain, but he might have to miss a game or two. Should that be the case, Toby Gerhart would be in line for extra work.

For updates, fantasy line-up help, fun conversation on who to sit and start, key match-ups and guys we like to have big, productive weeks or down weeks, listen to our WEEKLY FANTASY FOOTBALL PODCAST presented by Fantasy Football Sportal, or you can just look over to the right hand side and listen to them right there from the green podcast box.

LaDainian Tomlinson missed the Thursday night game against the Broncos with a sprained MCL, but plans on playing this Sunday against Buffalo. Shonn Greene started on Thursday night and was supposed to have a big game with LT out, but was forced to leave early with a rib cage injury. He expects to pay this Sunday as well.

As a result, Joe Mcknight saw an increase in work and filled in admirably. He ran for 59 yards, caught 6 passes for 62 yards and had 39 return yards as well. Julio Jones did not play against the Titans with a bum hamstring, so again, Harry Douglass saw extra targets. Douglass finished with a modest 4 catch 51 yard day.

2011 Fantasy Football: Week 7

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

The 2011 Fantasy football season continues to roll on. Drew Brees had a monster day on Sunday, throwing for 31 completions, 325 yards and 5 touchdowns. TE Jimmy Graham had another big outing, catching 2 of those touchdowns. Marques Colston had 2 touchdown catches himself as the Saints offense just continues to roll. Anyone playing Fantazzle’s weekly fantasy football salary cap games should pick any of these 3 Saints players when setting their lineups for the week. They seem to be producing great fantasy numbers at a consistent clip right now, so pick them with confidence!

Many fantasy leagues out there have byes weeks to deal with. If you started Tim Tebow at quarterback like I did for the week because of bye’s, then you were rewarded. Tebow started the game of slow, but wound up bringing the Broncos back for a win and finished the day with a solid fantasy effort. He threw for 161 yards, 2 touchdowns, a 2-pt conversion and 65 rushing yards; not bad for a bye week fill in. Demaryius Thomas, who was a hot waiver wire pick up this week with Brandon Lloyd being traded to St. Louis, salvaged his day with a touchdown catch late in the comeback win, so I guess he panned out.

DeMarco Murray also had himself one of the biggest fantasy days in week 7 rushing for 253 yards and a touchdown! That was a new Cowboys single game record. Felix Jones may have to miss some more time with that performance from Murray. I’d like to see another big game from Murray however, before I start recommending him for your weekly fantasy football games.

Moving on to injuries, Tim Hightower left the game after piling up 88 yards on the ground with a left knee injury. It looked pretty significant and he was carted off the field. If you haven’t already, grab Roy Helu and Ryan Torain. Percy Harvin also left his game early after re-aggravating his rib cage area. Hopefully, he can play next week with Chris Ponder looking formidable behind center. And in a surprising move, Joseph Addai was able to play at the last second. Most people thought he would sit out this week, but Addai ended up trying to give it a go. It wasn’t much of a go as he totaled 2 catches for 11 yards and rushed for only 8 more! The Indy backfield is just a mess.
