2012 Weekly Fantasy Sports: Football and Basketball

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

It looks like we get to see the Giants and Patriots in yet another super bowl game. The 2012 fantasy football season is finally winding down to a close with the super bowl and pro bowl being the last two games of the fantasy season. Those of you in the fantasy football playoff challenge games are reaping good benefits if you chose any Patriots or Giants players.

Sunday against the 49ers, Eli Manning completed 32 passes on 58 attempts for 316 yards, 2 touchdowns and no picks. Joe Flacco tried his hardest and led the day with Eli Manning, throwing for 306/2/1. Had Lee Evans held onto that late second touchdown pass from Joe Flacco like a falling baby, then maybe we’d be seeing the Ravens and Giants on Super Bowl Sunday instead, but oh well, that’s football for you.

Victor Cruz, once again, had yet another stellar outing. He caught 10 clutch balls for 142 yards. Vernon Davis also showed up to play once again, catching only 3 passes, but for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns. He had a long of 73 yards. Finally, VD’s speed is being utilized the way we all envisioned on his draft day! Anquan Boldin tried desperately to get his team in scoring position late in the 4th quarter with several big catch and runs. He finished his day with 6 catches for 101 yards.

On to 2012 fantasy basketball, Dirk Nowitzki will miss about 4 games in order to get his so-called conditioning in check. I do think that with the shortened season, we are seeing some weird things this year. When has Dirk ever missed time due to conditioning issues? Spencer Hawes started out hot, but now is becoming somewhat of an injury nuisance. You can’t rely on players in fantasy basketball games if they’re going to be in and out of the lineup all the time. Joakim Noah is either hurt, tired, sore or not producing to his usual levels when he does play, so he’s a bit of a disappointment thus far.

I would stay away from these three guys for this week at least. Check back with us for more next week. As always, remember to get on over to Fantazzle and win money playing fantasy sports games. You can even check out our all new fantasy football pro-bowl game where you choose from only the best players in the league. Have fun and enjoy the week.

2012 Weekly Fantasy Sports Games

Monday, January 16th, 2012

Another exciting week of playoff fantasy football in the books. Tom Brady led the day with 363 yards passing on top of 6 touchdowns and 1 pick. Drew Brees was next in line for top quarterback performers. He threw for 462 yards, 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Eli Manning was also solid once again putting up his stat line of 330/3/1 in a win against the heavy favorites, Green Bay Packers.

Arian Foster was the lone 100-yard rusher in week 19. He ran for 131 yards and 1 touchdown on 27 carries, but it was not enough to beat the Baltimore Ravens. On the receiving end of things, there were plenty of big time players in week 19. Vernon Davis was huge in his game against the Saints and came up big, play after play. Davis finished the day with 7 catches, 180 yards and 2 scores. Rob Gronkowski was magnificent also, recording 10 receptions for 145 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Hakeem Nicks made several game changing plays, ending the night at 7/165/2. Marques Colston went 9/136/1, Darren Sproles went 15/119/1, Andre Johnson 8/111 and Jimmy Graham 5/103/2. All of these players most certainly come with a high price tag in fantasy football playoff games and this is why.

On to 2012 fantasy basketball, Kobe Bryant is the number one guy right now in terms of fantasy ranking. He has scored at least 40 points in 4 consecutive games (4 out of the last 5). I guess the guy really does still have something noteworthy left in the tank. Kevin Durant is right behind him though with LeBron James ranked third. I would say these guys are definitely worth the hefty price tag in all fantasy basketball game formats.

Be sure to check out all our cool fantasy sports games at Fantazzle. Play to win prize money or play the free games for the fun of it. As alway have a safe and productive week.

Weekly Fantasy Sports Games Review at Fantazzle

Monday, January 9th, 2012

The fantasy football playoff games are in full swing at Fantazzle. At quarterback, once again, Drew Brees headlines our report as he  threw for 466 yards and 3 touchdowns on Wild Card Weekend. Matthew Stafford was right behind him though with 380/3/2. Most impressive was Tim Tebow’s heroic efforts against the vaunted Steelers. Tebow finished his day with 316 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. He also carried 10 times for 50 yards and a score.

Arian Foster led the playoff weekend for running backs with 153 yards and 2 scores on 24 carries. Isaac Redman is next in line for fantasy running back accolades as he ran for 121 yards on 17 touches. He would have had a touchdown, but got clipped up right at the goaline.

Calvin Johnson was a man amongst boys this Wild Card Weekend. Against the Saints, Megatron pulled in 12 catches for 211 yards and 2 TD’s. Demaryius Thomas had 4, 204 and 1, Marques Colston went 7 for 120 and Hakeem Nicks finished his day with 6, 115 and 2. It was an exciting week of first round playoff fantasy football and we can’t wait for more of the same next week.

In the world of weekly fantasy basketball games, things are popping off already. Zach Randolph has a torn medial collateral knee ligament which is going to sideline him for the next seven weeks! Marreese Speights was traded to Memphis over from Philly to help fill the void for Memphis while Randolph sits out. Speights debuted with a 17 point, 7 rebound effort Sunday against the Lakers–pick him up, Marreese Speights has proved effective when given the minutes.

If your playing weekly salary cap fantasy basketball and you need some bang for your buck, go with Ryan Anderson, power forward/center for the Orlando Magic. He’s currently the 6th ranked fantasy player and he’ll be a bit cheaper then some of the other big name forwards. He’ll get you the same type of numbers or if not better! He can hit three’s, grab rebounds and score points as his season averages are 18 pts/7.3 rebs/ 3.2 3ptm per game. Another guy I like this season is Jose Calderon. He’s fourth in the league in total assists behind Rajon Rondo, Steve Nash and Derrick Rose. Calderon is averaging 12.4 pts and 9.4 assists a game. He won’t be too expensive in the salary cap format, so make good use of him and ride him to your weekly prize money.

Fantasy Football Review: Week 17

Monday, January 2nd, 2012

The NFL regular season is finally over. It seems like it ended just as soon as it started. The fantasy football season isn’t over yet however, as we still have plenty of weekly fantasy football games for you to play at Fantazzle. Don’t hesitate to try out all the fantasy football playoff games. Fantasy basketball is now in full swing, so I’ll be talking about big time stats and performers in the NBA.

If your planning on taking part in our fantasy basketball games, you’ll want to get defensive-minded players into your lineup. On Fantazzle, blocks and steals are each worth 2 points a piece. DeAndre Jordan, Emeka Okafor, Javale McGee, Marcus Camby and Dwight Howard are all guys you will want to consider. They get tons of rebounds and blocks as well!

Guys that get a lot of steals like Chris Paul, Rajon Rondo, Andre Iguodala, John Wall and Jason Kidd will also have plenty of value. Remember, steals and blocks are worth two points each, so use it to your advantage. Try and get a bunch of block guys who can also score points and grab plenty of rebounds. Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard and LaMarcus Aldridge are good examples of that. Derrick Rose is also another example of a great fantasy basketball player in that he scores points in bunches and will also provide plenty of steal numbers.

Check in with us every Monday for the sports blog to see my advice on fantasy friendly players. When there is money on the line don’t hesitate to seek out some advice on who to take. Remember, when playing in any fantasy sports games, it’s always important to check out the scoring settings before selecting your team. Also be sure to listen to our weekly fantasy sports podcast where we always have a wealth of information to give you on fantasy sports players. Just take a look to the right hand side of the screen and you will see the podcast in green. Once again, have a productive week and let’s all enjoy the never ending fantasy sports season!

2011 Fantasy Football: Week 15 Review

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

Week 15 in the NFL held plenty of action for weekly fantasy football games. Again, Drew Brees was atop the scoring action with 5 touchdown passes on 412 yards. Matthew Stafford was next in line with 4 touchdown passes on 391 yards. Among non-quarterbacks, Calvin Johnson had the biggest day going for 9/214/2.

C.J. Spiller also had a huge game with 91 yards on the ground, 2 total touchdowns and 9 catches for 76 yards. Who would have thought he would have put together a game like that against the tough Miami defense? Another example of how sometimes the stats do lie and going with your gut feeling instead, can prove successful. There is always much to learn in the world of salary cap fantasy football.

Adrian Peterson finally returned to action this week after missing 3 games with an ankle. He ran for 60 yards on the ground. James Starks missed his second straight game after aggravating his bum ankle. Greg Jennings also missed the game against Oakland leaving all the work to Donald Driver, James Jones and Jordy Nelson.

Be sure to play our weekly salary cap fantasy football games, college fantasy football and now 2011 weekly fantasy basketball over at Fantazzle! The basketball season will be kicking off on Christmas day, so be sure to get your lineups in for the special. As always, enjoy your week and make it a productive one!

NBA Playoff Salary Cap Fantasy BBall — Second Round

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

With the second round of the 2010 NBA Playoffs already underway Fantazzle.com is gearing up again for the second round of its fantasy basketball playoff game.

This particular fantasy basketball game will be different than Fantazzle’s regular daily or weekly fantasy games, as it is round-by-round, allowing fantasy players to create teams and compete in each round of the NBA playoffs. This particular game will end when all the second round series are finished. Your browser may not support display of this image.

Check out the new Fantasy Basketball Playoff Salary Cap Game page for official rules, scoring, and instructions on how to play.Your browser may not support display of this image.

With two series already starting on Saturday and Sunday (Cavs vs Celtics and Jazz vs Lakers), it’s extra important to use a good strategy. Pick your team with the fantasy players that you think will last the longest in the second round, as well as accumulate the most total points!

The game officially starts at 10:30 pm ET on Monday night, so set your lineup and be prepared!

For a variety of daily and weekly fantasy sports games, including fantasy football, fantasy baseball, and fantasy hockey, visit Fantazzle.com!

Tips and Advice:

Due to the $1,000,000 salary cap, each fantasy user has to be careful who they pick at each position, while thinking ahead to the next position.

One of the best strategies is to pick the top player you desire in each positional category (C,G,F, Util), and then go back to each position and try to round out your fantasy roster with “lesser” players, but with good value.

Also, pay close attention to players who were recently eliminated from playoff contention (Milwauee Bucks players), as well as players who have already played in an NBA Playoff game.

2010 Fantazzle Fantasy Basketball Games

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Welcome back to Fantazzle Fantasy Basketball.  The 2009-10 NBA season is now in full swing, which means that it’s time for Dr. Quez to start writing some prescriptions.  If you’re a fantasy basketball junkie, and need more number-crunching, mind-numbing analysis than your run of the mill, ESPN type fantasy basketball websites are prepared to offer, then you’ve come to the right place. Fantazzle offers weekly fantasy basketball games for cash prizes.

Last season we launched Fantazzle’s unique brand of fantasy basketball games, and in my blog entry entitled “Introduction to Fantazzle Fantasy Basketball,” I explained the rules of our game.  The rules remain intact this season and the format is a fantasy basketball salary cap game; all that has changed is the values of each player and your own comfort level with the Fantazzle scoring system.  Learning a new system is never easy, but once you get a handle on what kind of players it tends to favor, you have an immediate advantage over your adversaries.

Last season we spent some time talking about the primary wrinkle of the Fantazzle scoring metric: the absence of FG%, FT% and turnovers as scoring categories.  The obvious result of this difference is that certain players, such as Dwight Howard, whose traditional fantasy value is somewhat limited by poor performance in these categories, are much more valuable in this game because they are not penalized for some kind of offensive inefficiency.  Dwight Howard, who is a top fifteen fantasy player in traditional formats, leapfrogs just about everyone in overall value in the Fantazzle game, which ignores percentage-based categories and instead places a premium blocks and steals.

Now that we are nearly a month into the season, we are beginning to get a sense of what everyone’s true value really is.  As with any season in any sport, there is a long, interesting list of surprise performers and slow starters.  Then you have that all-important class of young players who are developing into legitimate stars, as well as the core group of established players who you can count on to provide steady numbers, year after year.

In the next several fantasy basketball pieces, I’m going to sift through each category of players, identifying several key players in each group that are worthy of discussion, whether it be because their performance is going to change or because they are an interesting topic unto themselves.  Along the way, we’ll unearth some useful nuggets of fantasy information that can help you win in both your weekly Fantazzle fantasy basketball games and your traditional fantasy basketball formats. Stay tuned and let the fun begin!
