For those of you seeking advice we suggest checking out FantasyPros.com. This is a great site and they offer all kinds of advice to help every type of fantasy football owner record a victory.

This past week we finished in the number one spot and have climbed all the way up to the number six spot on the season rankings. This is something we are very proud of and we thank the folks at FantasyPros for letting us participate.

One last note about our fantasy games. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and we have a great game going on, the Special Turkey Day Salary Cap game. All players from the six teams competing this Thanksgiving will be available and should help make your Turkey day even more exciting.

Head on over to FantasyPros.com to see where players rank in Week 12 and then submit your fantasy football lineups at Fantazzle Fantasy Sports!

Happy Thanksgiving and good luck to all!

Hi all,

Based on several NFL events these past few days along with additional fantasy football rankings research some changes were made to the 2010 fantasy football rankings for the QB fantasy rankings and RB fantasy rankings. The 2010 QB fantasy rankings didn’t change that significantly. The 2010 RB fantasy football rankings did have several major changes which are described below. Fantazzle’s Fantasy Football rankings are due to the FSTA and FFLibrarian before the Thu night game so today and early tomorrow we will be cleaning up TE and WR and look to make a 2008 fantasy football ranking impact instead of the 2009 impact….FORTE! Tellin’ ya, never again will I trust a player with an accent aigu.

QB Fantasy Football Rankings

The biggest movers (and really only significant ones at all) were moving Flacco up two spaces and Brady down two spaces. I like moving Flacco up with the addition of Housh as I don’t see how this don’t because a complete passing team except down by the goal line. Don’t get me wrong, Ray Rice is too good not to use him running, but I believe there will be more passing plays with Housh, especially around mid season when he really has the system down, and at the same time dump offs to Ray Rice. Not too bad a safety valve to have eh? Brady was hard to move, but its really hard to read up in NE right now with Welker not fully healed and Randy Moss doing Randy Moss things. That may become a major problem soon. I may be putting Edelman on my WR top 50 as he may get more playing time because of R Moss pouting it up and Bellichek not putting up with it.

ATTENTION - Why read another fantasy football site that posts 2010 fantasy football rankings?

Because in 2008, Fantazzle Fantasy Football Games was recognized as the #1 fantasy football player ranking site among the top names in the fantasy football industry. The award was given by the Fantasy Sports Trade Association, FFLibrarian and the NYTimes fantasy football blog is where you can see the results. There were over 20 fantasy football sites in the contest and those sites are widely known as the best sources for fantasy football advice and projections.

2010 Fantasy Football Rankings

As described above in 2008 Fantazzle won a major fantasy football award according to the NYTimes. Fantazzle at the time was five months old. We went up against over twenty (20) of THE best fantasy sports sites (you all ever hear of YaCPN or ESBShoo?) or straight no messin’ around fantasy football sites period (which all seem to have roto in their name, which according to Wikipedia means broken). I gotta believe you all may have come across these sites along with just a ‘few’ fantasy football magazines over the past few years. I think the number of available fantasy magazines this year FINALLY surpassed the tattoo/motorcycle/wave runner segment, a major victory for the fantasy football industry. Now who’s just a fad?

Now to be fair, this was in 2008 (I can’t believe we are not mentioned anywhere on that link). In 2009? We would rather say we didn’t get our picks in time, but we did and they included Matt Forte among other high profile Bears names classified as under-rated. Let’s just say if the Chicago Bears didn’t ever exist, we would have done pretty well. So we got that going for us… Last year, some compamy called ESBShoo won, wait I got that wrong, it was CBS (congrats!) who probably weren’t so high on Forte, Matt 22 RB (CHI). We will be back on the map this year so we don’t become Michael Clayton (WR)…. who reminds me a lot of Matt Forte last year. What makes it worst is I knew better. Never trust a dude w/ a accent aigu…this isn’t only a fantasy rule, but a life rule that I live by day to day.

Nevertheless – 2008. Created Fantazzle, a daily and weekly fantasy football game company and won the fantasy ranking award. A great start for Fantazzle and just the beginning of more things to come. Just this year, we were invited to be a pro fantasy football player in a great fantasy football game in its 2nd year – RapidDraft. It’s free this year so what do you have to lose, what ~20-30min? I know what you have to win – over $150,000! The great thing about RapidDraft and Fantazzle’s fantasy games are that it is not a random contest with a name drawn out of a hit, they are games which allow your skills determine your outcomes. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather have my skills determine if I win or lose rather than a lucky number.

Enough! Lets get on with it. So, the projections below will be Fantazzle’s submission to the 2010 Fantasy Football Accuracy Challenge award. The point system is simple and we are only looking at QB/RB/WR/TE. No points per reception (PPR) and four points for a QB TD. And with that, please enjoy the rankings through agreement or whole heartedly ‘Youuuuu IDIOT!!!!’ I will respond to all comments that are not spam, personally!

Hi all,
Ryan Parr here. I am the founder/CEO of Fantazzle Fantasy Sports Games. We have been getting a lot of questions about the status of our 2010 fantasy football player rankings. Ever since we were recognized as the #1 fantasy football player ranking site for the 2008 NFL season by the FF Librarian and the Fantasy Sports Trade Association, we have had a great following of loyal fantasy readers that we have had the pleasure of interacting with on this very fantasy sports blog, on our Fantasy Sports Twitter Account and on at least one of our many specific fantasy sports pages on Facebook like our Fantasy Football Facebook page. And of course we can’t forget to mention the Fantazzle fantasy site itself.

Allow me a quick moment to reflect, as its been a lot of work from when we started in Sept 2008, up until the very changes you’re seeing now. Three years of hard work, but we have continued to grow and make progress EVERY day and that’s what it’s all about.

I must say that these past three years haven’t been just about the world of business and business lessons, but life lessons with one of the bigger ones learning who your colleagues and friends are. With that, I thank everyone for their part and I look forward to the next three years.

And back to Fantazzle’s 2010 Fantasy Football Player Rankings. We are looking at Monday to start a series of fantasy football player ranking blog posts that will span a few days to build the suspense and tension that all good blogs do (well, that and the work we are doing for the start of the fantasy football season is intense and needs to be done as well).

Speaking of which, if you go to the fantasy games site now, you will see the beginning of a few of the changes you’ll see in the coming weeks. We hope you like the redesign. We believe you will because most of he modifications came from YOU, the user directly, and since these games and everything we do is about the user, it only makes sense to make changes to fit the user.

I look forward to speaking to all of you in the days to come as we start to countdown the two weeks left until that first Sunday aptly named Week One!

We had a decent ranking in the QB ranking, but didn’t place in the other positions. Its too bad, but you can’t win ‘em all and no one can take 2008 away from us (this isn’t college sports hehe). I think it will be great to start seeing an average created over the past several years and the future. Hopefully we’ll see a strong showing by Fantazzle with the average and a strong showing with our fantasy football 2010 predictions.

Fantazzle did a series of preseason NFL predictions before the season started. With the Super Bowl approaching, lets take a look at how we did.

Lets start with the NFL NFC 2009 Predictions

NFC East

Our analysis on how the standing could turn out here were pretty close. Key injuries were important, but there actually were not many of them in the division. I would say the biggest injuries that happened in the NFC East were to the NYG’s defense. Their whole was nicked up from start to finish and they ultimately became the team that lost out in the division and on our predicted Wild Card spot. We got Dallas right winning the division and Philly getting a WC. And we were right that it was a coin flip on who would take it. Dallas and Philly had the same record and the division winner was determined in Week 17. We were off saying Washington had a shot at the playoffs as well. We didn’t give them much of a chance, but they didn’t even deserve a mention. They were absolutely embarrassing.

With regards to our fantasy football player predictions, we were on point about Tony Romo. He finished ~6th in most leagues and two of the QBs ahead of him were so close it really didn’t matter which player you owned. He was easily a Tier 2 QB and a real bargain at draft time. We liked WAS as a BYE week and situational play defense. We weren’t right, but weren’t exactly wrong. It really depends on the scoring of your league. WAS was horrible in most leagues because they did not score many fantasy points in categories like INTs, fumbles recovered and most especially defensive TDs (they got 0). However, if you played in a league that gave points for points against or yards given up, they were ok. WAS had one of the better defenses, but was FAR from special. At the end of the day, we’ll take a ‘we were wrong’ here. Lastly, we said PHI and NYG WRs will not be good fantasy picks. Our reasoning was that these teams will spread the ball around and in NYG’s situation who the heck knows who will come out of the pack before the season starts. Well, it was Steve Smith and he was a top 10 WR. Not to mention DeSean Jackson who was a top 5. Way off here. I will say in defense that Steve Smith was still a risky pick because things weren’t settled in who would be the guy before the season started and DeSean Jackson was one catch away every game of being an average WR. Just so happens that in over half of his games he would come up with a over 40 yard reception for a TD. In any case, we owe you all one there.

NFC North

Our Super Bowl pick, the Minnesota Vikings walked away with the division. They were looking like a great pick for the Super Bowl until last weekend when they met our NFC South divisional pick. We were right on the money with our divisional picks here except we pulled the trigger on NYG to be the Wild Card over GB. Other than that, great predicitions.

Onto the fantasy football player predictions. Not so good. You’d think we were a handicapper instead of a fantasy football game site. Our division standings were great, but our fantasy football picks, not so much. Greg Olsen did not have a big year as predicted. We went as far as saying he would be a top 3 TE. He came in 11th, not breaking the top 10. Very frustrating as he had so much potential (next year…?). Aaron Rodgers overrated? Not so much, he was the #1 fantasy football QB in most leagues. We knew he was top 5 material, we just didn’t think he was worth all the hype. I guess now we know (its beyond me how he did it with such a bad offensive line in front of him…he deserves even more credit).

We finally had a good call with the GB defense. We had them ranked relatively high and our biggest D/ST sleeper. They didn’t disappoint with a top 5 finish.

NFC South

Again, we did very well with the division standings and writeup. We liked the NO Saints to win for two reasons: A) the moves they made in the off season specifically Darren Sharper leading the defense and B) the past 6 years the team that finished last, finished first the next season (TB in 2010…?).

As far as fantasy players, we had Marques Colston returning to his former self which is pretty close. He was just outside of the top 10 and finished where we expected him to. Michael Clayton relevant again….shoot me in my head now. I just want to forget that was ever said. Moving on…Tony Gonzales risky. Hmmm, not so much now that the season is over. He found his groove with Ryan. He finished ~5th. Down from last year, but definitely not a bust. I still stand by staying away from him before knowing what we know. Its always a risky situation. Lastly, we said that DeAngelo would be a risky RB pick. We thought he would play well and be a top 10, but not command an early first round pick. We were correct with this. He finished 12th and even if he did not get injured at the end, he would have been right around where we expected him to be.

NFC West

Well we didn’t see this division correctly. We had Seattle winning the division and AZ feeling the effects of the Super Bowl curse (in fact it was PIT who were cursed). We did, however see something in the 49ers as they stayed competitive in the division and have a bright future.

Its kind of funny, but the one division we were totally off on for standings, we may some great fantasy football predictions. We asked why everyone was looking at Steven Jackson as a top 5 fantasy RB. He finished in the top 10, but he wasn’t close to being a great pick in the first round. Vernon Davis was DEFINITELY worth a roster spot. Wish we were more bold on our writeup, but we did see something special in V Davis. He has the skills to continue to play this well for years to come. We loved Nate Burleson and he delivered. He finished ~30th making him an easy #3 WR or flex on many fantasy football teams. He wasn’t drafted in many leagues. A complete steal. John Carlson was the ~11th best fantasy football TE making him a starting TE in a 12 person league. We liked him a little more than this finish (we had him as the 8th best), but still a pretty close prediction. Our J Jones prediction…not so good. We thought he was one of the most under-rated RBs in 2009. Not so much. Sorry about that one. We had him as 16th and he finished ~32nd.

Playoffs

We did pretty well with our playoff predictions. We got AZ wrong (we had SEA) and the 2nd WC spot wrong (we had NYG and it was GB). DAL vs MIN for the NFC conference was one week too early of a matchup. And MIN to represent the NFC was one Brett Favre INT away from happening….Still all in all, I don’t feel too bad about the picks.

We could have done better with our fantasy football advice here. We hit some and others not so much. We’ll look to have a stronger showing in 2010.

Fantasy Football Ranking Credibility
In 2008, Fantazzle Fantasy Sports Games, was the #1 preseason fantasy football ranking site by the FSTA and Fantasy Football Librarian besting over 20 fantasy sites, including household names and leaders in sports and fantasy football.

Well the season kicks off tonight so rankings have to be officially done. This Thursday game is a pain for the fantasy football season, but great for viewers to get the season kicked off and a game to watch on a Thursday night. For fantasy football companies, it messes up the schedule and start of the year.

In any case, final fantasy football rankings are done. Some rankings have changed, but not by much. I wish you all the best this fantasy football season!

In 2008, Fantazzle Fantasy Sports Games, was the #1 preseason fantasy football ranking site by the FSTA and Fantasy Football Librarian besting over 20 fantasy sites, including household names and leaders in sports and fantasy football.

For the next couple of days, I’m going to write some posts about sleepers, over rated players, changes in rankings, general football previews and other stuff. I know its late and this all may not be useful, but it should be an entertaining read which you can tear up (send a comment and I’ll answer personally) or give a thumbs up.

Note – All average draft position info is brought to you by Fantasy Football Calculator. All the info is free and Fantazzle highly recommends it.

Fantasy Football Quarterback Sleepers

Tony Romo – I consider Tony Romo at Tier 2 Quarterback in my fantasy football quarterback rankings. He is easily the lowest drafted T2 (51st), according to Fantasy Football Calculator and confirmed by me in nearly every draft I have been in. I think losing Terrell Owens is causing to big a reaction. It may reduce this stats, but I think he is a bargain in the 5th round and it helps you save an earlier pick on a running back or wide receiver.

Fantasy Football Running Backs Sleepers

If you read my fantasy football running back rankings, you’ll know that I am counting on the lower tier running backs to be big contributors. The past few years, round 1 and 2 RBs have included a lot of busts. Stocking up on a lot of round 5′s and up are the way to go. Here are a couple of the more notable guys.

Julius Jones – He’s my biggest RB sleeper in 2009. He currently is being drafted 94th on average. Thats way too low. I think a lot of people are forgetting how many injuries the Seahawks had last year, including Matt Hasselback and something crazy like their first 6 WRs in their depth chart. The offense will be much better and Jones will be improved. The O line is not that good, which will hurt (and it hurts even more that Walter Jones is out for an undisclosed amount of time), but Jones will easily be good enough for a low end T2 or high end T3/flex.

Derrick Ward – I could really eat my words here, given Cadillac Williams just showed up as #1 on the depth chart, but I think Ward as a chance to be a very solid #2 RB. He was incredible in New York and I think his numbers will improve once TB realizes that he is the #1 guy in their backfield.

LeSean McCoy – Probably the biggest potential backup running back in the game. Raise your hand if you think Westbrook will play healthy all year? I’ve watched him play and he looks exactly like Westbrook so he has incredible potential. On top of that Philly has the best offense it has had in year. I’m taking a risk and draft him slightly higher than his average of 86. I can’t think of any backup that has better potential than him due to his skillz and the man in front of him.

Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Sleepers

Nate Burleson – Drafted 145th on average. I’m big on the Seahawks this year. With Hasselback back, TJ getting the most attention from the defense and Nate playing great at the end of ’07 and before he got hurt last year, this guy has the skillz to make some noise in the fantasy world. I haven’t heard of any off the field problems lately so I think he’s a safe pick.

Robert Meachem – 156th on average. He probably hasn’t been drafted in a lot of leagues. He’s got potential to be the Lance Moore of this year. Moore could have a set back with his injury and/or not produce at such a high level. I see Meachem stepping in and filling that role. He could be fantasy irrelevant, but the upside he has, has me stashing him on my bench if I have a spot (drop that extra TE or Kicker!).

Austin Collie or Pierre Garcon (in that order) – I’m not sold on Anthony Gonzalez. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to have him on my team, but if I did, I would keep my eyes on these other two and pick up Collie (looks like he is #3 for now) if you have a spot. One big game and you know everyone in your league will be all over a WR for Indy so beat them to the punch. They could amount to nothing, but Peyton has a lot of say in Indianapolis and if feels more comfortable with one of these guys, I’m sure he’ll let the coaches know it and look for the guy more often.

Fantasy Football Tight End Sleepers

Greg Olsen – Well he’s not a sleeper anymore, but I still want to talk about him because I’m taking him over Tony Gonzalez and Dallas Clark. I think all three of them will be in the same ballpark with productions, but you’ll get Olsen 63rd overall instead of 53rd for Clark and 49th for Gonzalez. One more pick you can spend on a RB or WR if you decide to go T1 or T2 route for your TE (which I dont recommend). Cutler loves him some TEs on the field and off. He seems to have a Romo/Witten relationship. He had it with Scheffler in Denver and is reported that Olsen and Cutler are good friends in Chicago. Throw in the fact that Chicago doesn’t have any WRs to throw to and the Olsen is a talented guy, you have the perfect storm. He’s no longer a sleeper because people are seeing this, but I like this to guy to be a top 3 TE this year.

Visanthe Shiancoe – He’s growing on me every day. He’s ranked 11th in my fantasy football tight end rankings right now, but bump him up to #9. I’m liking the Favre potential here. Look what he did for Dustin Keller last year (albeit Keller is talented as well) and the Vikings are going to lean on the run, short ~10yd routes, and homerun balls. I like Shiancoe to be a major recipient of the short throws especially in the red zone.

Fantasy Football Defense/Special Teams Sleepers

San Diego Chargers – (121) Well that was before the whole Shawn Merriman and Tila Tequila thing. No word if that will affect Merriman, but that Goodell guy is pretty damn strict. SD has crept up lately in the rankings so maybe people are realizing that Merriman back and Cromartie injury free is the makings of a major turnaround from last year. Also, they have 6 games against Denver, KC, and Oakland. Wow.

Washington Redskins - Currently the 187th average pick. Hayneworth is a team changer. He has the potential to push Washington’s D, which was already an under the radar D (6th in NFL Total Defense rankings). Plus the Redskins spent most of their top picks in the draft on the defensive side of the ball. The only question is will that translate into a good fantasy defense/special teams. I’m not entirely sure, but I would keep an eye on them and pick them up if they start off hot.

Fantazzle Fantasy Football Games - 2009 Fantasy Football Kicker Rankings

Fantasy Football Ranking Credibility
In 2008, Fantazzle Fantasy Sports Games, was the #1 preseason fantasy football ranking site by the FSTA and Fantasy Football Librarian besting over 20 fantasy sites, including household names and leaders in sports and fantasy football.

Fantasy Football Kicker Rankings – Overall
Well, I gotta include them. I think that there is a little strategy here. Not much, but there are a couple of things I recommend. First is that you only need one kicker. NEVER waste a roster spot on two kickers. You are better served with picking up a super sleeper than having two kickers for your bye week or playing matchups. If you want to play matchups with kickers (using a kicker against a bend but don’t break defense, for example), then do it week to week, not during the draft. Secondly, I wouldn’t choose a kicker to the end of you draft. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the last pick of the draft, but it should be close. A reason why you would not pick a kicker in the last round is if you have 3 or 4 guys that are super sleepers you know will not be drafted. That way you can draft a ‘better’ kicker and still grab one of these guys. If you feel they all may be taken or you perceive one of the 3 or 4 guys to have slightly more upside, than take that guy and wait until the last round for a kicker.

I’m with most analysts in saying that its hard to predict how a kicker will do and even if you are confident one is better than the other, the point difference is usually small. That said, sometimes the difference between a win or loss is 1 or 2 pts that a kicker could get you. I did some research on kickers this year and found that there are several that you can count on to be in the ~top 10. Those guys are listed as Tier 1′s. The Tier 2′s are guys I feel have nice potential on a team that will give them opportunities AND have been consistent the past few years.

Fantasy Football Kickers Scoring
Standard. 1pt for an extra point; 3pts for a 1 to 39 yard FG; 4pts for a 40 to 49 yard FG; 5pts for a FG over 50 yards; -2pts for all misses

TIER 1 Fantasy Football Kickers
1	Jason Elam	- With ATL’s offense better, a tougher schedule, and a worn down Turner, I look for Elam to have a big year.
2	Stephen Gostkowski – A solid top ~5 kicker the past few years.
3	Rob Bironas	- A solid top ~5 kicker the past few years.

TIER 2 Fantasy Football Kickers
4	Robbie Gould – Already a solid kicker, Cutler should give him more chances.
5	David Akers	- Philly’s O is the best in years. Akers is solid and should get more chances.
6	Mason Crosby
7	Ryan Longwell
8	Nate Kaeding – Very solid each year…except last year, but SD will be much better from start to finish.
9	Neil Rackers – You know they’ll score. If AZ regresses just a bit, then Rackers will get more FG chances.
10	Nick Folk – He’s gotta watch out for the scoreboard.
11	John Kasay
12	Lawrence Tynes – He’ll get a lot of chances and his injury last year is not a concern.

Fantasy Football Kickers – Conclusion
I like the T1s to be above the pack, but not by much. If you get them, great. If you don’t, no worries. The other guys will be fine and there won’t be a major difference. If for some reason you don’t get one of these guys or your guy is not doing very well, don’t be afraid to play the matchups. Its pretty easy research. Check out the weather reports first and foremost. If the weather isn’t a factor, look at the team your kicker is playing against and see how many Field Goals they have been giving up the past several games. I think you can count on ~20-25 kickers to be worthy of a start any given week. After that its just a matter of looking if the team they are playing against seems to give up a lot of FGs. DO NOT look at TDs given up. An extra point is nothing. I’d rather have upside of getting 3 FGs instead of 6 extra points.

Take care,

Fantazzle Fantasy Football Games - 2009 Defense/Special Teams Rankings

Fantasy Football Ranking Credibility
In 2008, Fantazzle Fantasy Sports Games, was the #1 preseason fantasy football ranking site by the FSTA and Fantasy Football Librarian besting over 20 fantasy sites, including household names and leaders in sports and fantasy football.

Fantasy Football Defense/Special Teams – Overall
I’m actually one of those guys who think that Defense/Special Teams (ST) should not be overlooked. It all depends on your league’s point system. If you have a pretty standard point system, then its not as important, but if you use a point system where points allowed are a big factor, then I usually focus on them in the early teens. This year is a little different because I feel there are a lot of defenses out there that drafters are sleeping on and you can get really late. So I have basically been drafting Def/STs like most fantasy football players given the depth.

I recommend that you either get an elite Def/ST (Tier 1 or T1) or you get two Tier 2/3 if you have enough bench spots to do so. I’d usually rather have two Def/ST than two TEs given the trash you usually end up with for that second tight end and how big matchups can be for Def/ST. Its easier to play matchups for Def/ST than any other position out there especially if you are a casual player. Are you going to spend time figuring out how the Panthers defend against a #2 WR playing in a west coast offense? If so, thats great and you may not want two Def/ST. But what about if you have the NYJ who are playing NE and GB who plays Detroit. I think its an obvious situation there that you can exploit having two choices.

Fantasy Football Defense/Special Teams Scoring
Standard. 6pts TD; 1pt sack; 2pts INT; 2pts Fumble Recovery; 2pts Safety;

10pts Shutout; 7pts 2-6 pts allowed; 4pts 7 to-13 pts allowed; 1pt 14-17 pts allowed; 0pts 18-21 pts allowed; -3pts 22-27 pts allowed; -5pts over 28 pts allowed

TIER 1 Fantasy Football Defense/Special Teams
1	Baltimore Ravens	- Full disclosure: I’m a Ravens fan. I still love their playmaking abilities.
2	Pittsburgh Steelers
3	Minnesota Vikings	- Great Def/ST for leagues that have a focus on points allowed.
4	San Diego Chargers – Sleeper pick. They were so bad last year, drafters are forgetting that injuries were the reason.

TIER 2 Fantasy Football Defense/Special Teams
5	New York Giants – Another good Def/ST for points allowed leagues.
6	Tennessee Titans – Going to be much worse w/out Haynesworth.
7	Washington Redskins – Going to be much better w/ Haynesworth.
8	Philadelphia Eagles – Dawkins will be missed.

TIER 3 Fantasy Football Defense/Special Teams
9	Green Bay Packers – Raji’s injury scares me, but they should be much better this year against the run.
10	New York Jets – I see a lot of low scoring games for the Jets under Rex Ryan.
11	Chicago Bears – Overrated especially w/out Devin Hester returning kicks. Ridiculous…

TIER 4 Fantasy Football Defense/Special Teams
12	Dallas Cowboys – Very disappointing last year and not sure they did much to improve.
13	Tampa Bay Buccaneers – TB has always been a top 10 defense…so I could be off on this projection.
14	Miami Dolphins
15	Arizona Cardinals
16	Atlanta Falcons – They got a great D, but they are too vanilla for fantasy football.
17	Carolina Panthers – See Atlanta.
18	Indianapolis Colts – If Bob Sanders is healthy all year, this ranking will be wrong.
19	Jacksonville Jaguars – Getting old plus they are a bad defense in fantasy football.
20	New England Patriots

Fantasy Football Defense/Special Teams – Conclusion
I think I have San Diego in every league I’m in this year. Its crazy how much they have dropped. Last year they were ~20th. 2007, they were #1 and 2006 they were #4. They should be back at those levels. I think Albert Haynesworth is such a huge difference maker that Tennessee backers will be disappointed and Washington backers will be pleasantly surprised. The Redskins are a great sleeper pick along with Green Bay who will be much improved against the run (which was their only weakness last year).

Take care,

Fantasy Football Ranking Credibility
In 2008, Fantazzle Fantasy Sports Games, was the #1 preseason fantasy football ranking site by the FSTA and Fantasy Football Librarian besting over 20 fantasy sites, including household names and leaders in sports and fantasy football.

Fantasy Football Wide Receivers – Overall
I saved the best for last. I feel the strongest with my fantasy football quarterback and tight end rankings, but I also feel they are relatively easy and straight forward. Running backs are easily the hardest this year due to the continuing trend of playing time splits. Wide Receivers are not an easy bunch to rank, but I feel I got a solid understanding of how to approach them. Its simply this: if you don’t have one of the first ~five picks, go for two WRs and then stock up on RBs. I like the Tier 1 (T1) and T2 guys to produce at a top level and give you little risk (barring injuries that you cannot predict). I would also recommend going WR, QB and WR. I know this is dangerous in the running back category, but think about it like this – if you go that route, you are taken care of every week at those positions (you can find a 3rd WR if you start 3 later in the draft or even on the waiver wire). Besides the first ~5 RBs, you are taking a risk with anyone you pick. Steven Jackson, Clinton Portis, Brandon Jacobs, Pierre Thomas, the list goes on. How confident do you feel that you have a 100% sure thing? At WR, your looking at Larry Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson, Reggie Wayne types as your #1. You feel pretty confident about them right? Do you foresee any of these guys going down with an injury like Portis, Westbrook, or Jacbos? And what about the second round? Greg Jennings, Steve Smith, Roddy White types. Do you foresee any of them stinking it up like Pierre Thomas or Steve Slaton could? I don’t. I think your risk is reduced significantly going this route. Of course, your RBs are now weak, BUT the way to make up for it is to draft ~4 guys in rounds 4 thru 7. And a backup or two and/or major upside guys later in the draft. Here’s who you may get: Derrick Ward, Julius Jones, Kevin Smith (maybe), Ray Rice, Beanie Wells, Thomas Jones, etc. You gotta believe that you can play matchups for the first two weeks and then have a better picture of which two of the crew are going to pan out. I’m not saying this is w/out risk and its painful to actually do during draft day (believe me, I know from experience), but it makes a lot of sense.

It really all boils down to reducing your risk with your first 2 to 3 picks and finding your DeAngelo Williams, Michael Turner’s in the later rounds. By picking 4 to 5 RBs then, you are looking for 2 or more to work out while your WRs dominate.

Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Scoring
Standard. 6pts TD; 1pt every 10 yards; -2pts fumble (no points for receptions)

TIER 1 Fantasy Football Wide Receivers
1	Randy Moss – Clear #1 given his upside. You can knock him down to ~#5, but I’ll take potential.
2	Larry Fitzgerald – Wow, is he on a lot of magazine covers.

TIER 2 Fantasy Football Wide Receivers
3	Calvin Johnson
4	Andre Johnson
5	Marques Colston – He’ll come back strong.
6	Greg Jennings
7	Roddy White – Back to back big years cements him as a major fantasy force.
8	Dwayne Bowe – See Roddy White.
9	Steve Smith
10	Reggie Wayne – I worry a little about Indy’s #2 holding Wayne back a bit.

TIER 3 Fantasy Football Wide Receivers
11	Anquan Boldin – Tier 3 due to current injury concern.
12	Wes Welker – Back to ’07 levels. He’s the #1 Tier 2 in PPR leagues.
13	Chad Ochocinco – He’s a bit risky due to Carson Palmer. I’d try to avoid unless he falls too far.
14	Terrell Owens – Wait until next year to drop lower due to tantrums.
15	Roy Williams – He’ll return to ’06-’07 stats.
16	Vincent Jackson – Hasn’t quite proven he’s the MAN. He’s close though and could be a bargain at #16
17	TJ Houshmandzadeh – #2 WR? I dunno…that’s seems like a trendy statement. Lots of upside.
18	Eddie Royal – Could be a steal. Too risky for me.
19	Santonio Holmes

TIER 4 Fantasy Football Wide Receivers
20	Brandon Marshall – Heh..what can I say? Anything would be a complete guess.
21	Braylon Edwards – No way he is worse than last year.
22	DeSean Jackson – He’s gone too early in most drafts. The Eagles will spread the ball too much.
23	Bernard Berrian – Lots of 20pt games. Lots of 2pt games.
24	Anthony Gonzalez – He’ll have the opportunity, but not sure he has the talent.
25	Lance Moore – Major upside. He’s been a steal in nearly all drafts.
26	Donald Driver
27	Lee Evans

TIER 5 Fantasy Football Wide Receivers

28	Laveranues Coles – TJ Housh did pretty well as the #2….
29	Devin Hester
30	Kevin Walter
31	Santana Moss
32	Nate Burleson – I like Nate a lot. He’s got the talent and a healthy Hasselback.
33	Percy Harvin
34	Derrick Mason
35	Torry Holt – Playing on grass scares me more than him losing a step.
36	Chris Chambers – There’s an outside chance that Chambers is the #1 WR in San Diego.
37	Steve Smith – Who knows…. This could easily be Domenik Hixon here.
38	Donnie Avery – He’s got skillz, but his team is really really really bad.

TIER 6 Fantasy Football Wide Receivers
39	Isaac Bruce – He’s not being drafted in most leagues…
40	Kevin Curtis – Two years ago, he had ~1,100 yds and 6 TDs.
41	Antonio Bryant – This is really low, but last year was a fluke.
42	Steve Breaston
43	Domenik Hixon – Switch with #38 if you’d like.
44	Justin Gage
45	Hines Ward
46	Bryant Johnson
47	Robert Meachem- I like his potential. If you got an extra bench spot, put him on it for a couple of weeks.
48	Jerricho Cotchery
49	Ted Ginn Jr.
50	Nate Washington

Fantasy Football Wide Receivers – Conclusion
If you look at T1/T2, who do you really worry about stinking it up? Roddy White and Dwayne Bowe are possibilities, but I think this year they will prove themselves as top wide receiver options. If Randy Moss bombs, he’ll still be a late T2. Take two of these guys if you dont have a top 5 draft pick. Very little risk that you can’t get with RBs.

Good luck to you all! I’ll do Def/ST and Kickers just for ‘kicks’. They aren’t used in the FSTA accuracy challenge, but I got them done so i’ll get them out. For the next week, I will also summarize some more non-standard rankings. Also, if you have any questions, feel free to send a comment and I’ll look to answer them over the next few days.

Take care,
