The NFL regular season is finally over. It seems like it ended just as soon as it started. The fantasy football season isn’t over yet however, as we still have plenty of weekly fantasy football games for you to play at Fantazzle. Don’t hesitate to try out all the fantasy football playoff games. Fantasy basketball is now in full swing, so I’ll be talking about big time stats and performers in the NBA.

If your planning on taking part in our fantasy basketball games, you’ll want to get defensive-minded players into your lineup. On Fantazzle, blocks and steals are each worth 2 points a piece. DeAndre Jordan, Emeka Okafor, Javale McGee, Marcus Camby and Dwight Howard are all guys you will want to consider. They get tons of rebounds and blocks as well!

Guys that get a lot of steals like Chris Paul, Rajon Rondo, Andre Iguodala, John Wall and Jason Kidd will also have plenty of value. Remember, steals and blocks are worth two points each, so use it to your advantage. Try and get a bunch of block guys who can also score points and grab plenty of rebounds. Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard and LaMarcus Aldridge are good examples of that. Derrick Rose is also another example of a great fantasy basketball player in that he scores points in bunches and will also provide plenty of steal numbers.

Check in with us every Monday for the sports blog to see my advice on fantasy friendly players. When there is money on the line don’t hesitate to seek out some advice on who to take. Remember, when playing in any fantasy sports games, it’s always important to check out the scoring settings before selecting your team. Also be sure to listen to our weekly fantasy sports podcast where we always have a wealth of information to give you on fantasy sports players. Just take a look to the right hand side of the screen and you will see the podcast in green. Once again, have a productive week and let’s all enjoy the never ending fantasy sports season!

The 2011 Fantasy football season continues to roll on. Drew Brees had a monster day on Sunday, throwing for 31 completions, 325 yards and 5 touchdowns. TE Jimmy Graham had another big outing, catching 2 of those touchdowns. Marques Colston had 2 touchdown catches himself as the Saints offense just continues to roll. Anyone playing Fantazzle’s weekly fantasy football salary cap games should pick any of these 3 Saints players when setting their lineups for the week. They seem to be producing great fantasy numbers at a consistent clip right now, so pick them with confidence!

Many fantasy leagues out there have byes weeks to deal with. If you started Tim Tebow at quarterback like I did for the week because of bye’s, then you were rewarded. Tebow started the game of slow, but wound up bringing the Broncos back for a win and finished the day with a solid fantasy effort. He threw for 161 yards, 2 touchdowns, a 2-pt conversion and 65 rushing yards; not bad for a bye week fill in. Demaryius Thomas, who was a hot waiver wire pick up this week with Brandon Lloyd being traded to St. Louis, salvaged his day with a touchdown catch late in the comeback win, so I guess he panned out.

DeMarco Murray also had himself one of the biggest fantasy days in week 7 rushing for 253 yards and a touchdown! That was a new Cowboys single game record. Felix Jones may have to miss some more time with that performance from Murray. I’d like to see another big game from Murray however, before I start recommending him for your weekly fantasy football games.

Moving on to injuries, Tim Hightower left the game after piling up 88 yards on the ground with a left knee injury. It looked pretty significant and he was carted off the field. If you haven’t already, grab Roy Helu and Ryan Torain. Percy Harvin also left his game early after re-aggravating his rib cage area. Hopefully, he can play next week with Chris Ponder looking formidable behind center. And in a surprising move, Joseph Addai was able to play at the last second. Most people thought he would sit out this week, but Addai ended up trying to give it a go. It wasn’t much of a go as he totaled 2 catches for 11 yards and rushed for only 8 more! The Indy backfield is just a mess.

Check back with us next week for more updates on what went on in the NFL. Check us out at Fantazzle, we have great pick’em, salary cap and challenge games going on all the time. Play for free or deposit money to win cash prizes. Fantazzle also has their new Hall of Fame fantasy football ranking system so that you will know how you rank amongst Fantazzle’s current, new and past players.

Stop on over and have some fun. Also, be sure to check out our all-new fantasy football podcast at Fantasy Football Sportal & Weekly Fantasy Sportal. You can even listen to the new podcasts right here on the Fantazzle blog. Just look over to the right and hit play on the topic you want to hear about. If you have any questions, feel free to hit us up on Twitter.

Matt Forte wasn’t one of the big time, high scorers for week 6 in the 2011 fantasy football season, but he still put together yet another solid game for his owners. Watching Matt Forte run the ball, he looks smooth and always seems to be gaining positive yardage, in big chunks too! I would use his services in salary cap leagues almost every week until he slows down. LeSean McCoy, Fred Jackson and Rashard Mendenhall all had big games this week, going over 120 rushing yards each and a touchdown. Josh Freeman finally broke through with a good QB performance going for 23 completions, 303 yards and 2 touchdowns. One more game like that from him and maybe we can start picking him as a cheap QB option in fantasy football weekly salary cap games.

Tight end, Jimmy Graham had a huge day with 7 catches for 124 yards, and Marques Colston had his first big game of the season bringing in 7 catches, for 118 yards and a score. Lets not forget Frank Gore who had a huge day on the ground too, with 141 yards and a TD. Michael Turner got loose on the grond with 139 and 2, while Devin Hester torched it up on Sunday night with a kick return touchdown and a deep bomb touchdown from Jay Cutler. Hester finished the night with 5 rec, 91, 1 and 134 return yards and the touchdown. Adrian Peterson seemed to be held in check this week with only 39 yards on the ground, but still managed to produce a score, typical AP. Brees was Brees, Brady was Brady and Tony Romo did good too this week, lets move on to injuries.

LeGarrette Blount missed the game this week with a bum knee. The Bucs are saying that he could be out for another couple weeks or so. With the way Earnest Graham produced at tail back this past weekend, I wouldn’t expect the Bucs to rush LeGarrette Blount back into the mix. Look for Earnest Graham to produce quality numbers as the starter. Joseph Addai missed week 6 action with a sensitive hamstring. He might also miss week 7, so look for Donald Brown and Delone Carter to get all the work again next week if Addai can’t go. Brandon Jacobs missed his first game of the season with a hurt knee. We have no word yet on when he’ll be back. He could possibly come back after the Giants’ week 7 bye week.

Be sure to check out all the games over at Fantazzle. Try out the pick’em games, challenge games and salary cap games. Find me on the Fantazzle site (FantasyDave) and compete against me. You can also check our weekly fantasy football podcast for updates on who to start and who to sit each week on Fantasy Football Sportal. If you have any direct questions that you would like to ask me, you can find me on Twitter @FantasyDave77 or Facebook: Dave Lawson (FantasyDave).

As always, enjoy the week

Week 5 of the 2011 fantasy football season had plenty of big games for us managers. As I predicted in our weekly start’em sit’em podcast, Adrian Peterson went off on the Arizona Cardinals for bigger days than Darren McFadden and Arian Foster. Peterson totaled 122 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Kudos to anyone who selected him in our weekly salary cap fantasy football games at Fantazzle. Eli Manning also got loose in week 5 putting up 420 passing yards with three touchdowns and three picks against Seattle. The law firm, BenJarvus Green-Ellis was another bright spot in fantasy football for week 5. He ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns, adding in one catch for 13 yards.

Nate Washington’s day was held in check as I predicted because of that Pittsburgh pass defense, but Matt Hasselbeck did a little better than we expected. I had him getting shut down playing against the Steelers pass D. Victor Cruz also came out and had himself a day with 8 catches for 161 yards and a touchdown. LeSean McCoy was LeSean McCoy and Drew Brees was Drew Brees. LeGarrette Blount was held in check against San Franciso, like we thought and we will see what happens tonight on Monday night football–Lions vs. Bears. All of our week 5 fantasy player predictions can be heard by clicking the link.

Joseph Addai left the game in the second quarter against K.C. with an apparent hamstring injury. Addai said that when you hurt your hamstring, you can feel it tear. This one, he said, felt like a grab, so it could be minor, but stay updated and be ready to scoop Delone Carter who would be in line for most of the touches should Addai need to sit out week 6 and beyond. LeGarrette Blount also left his game with an injury, for him, it was a knee. The Buccaneers were getting blown out all day anyway, so this may have just been something precautionary. We’ll know more about Blount on Wednesday or Thursday. If you have the room on your roster, I would add Earnest Graham just to be safe.

Be sure to check out all our fantasy games and if you haven’t been playing with us already, you need to! Weekly NFL salary cap games will be starting as usual at 1 pm this Sunday. Our college fantasy football games will be kicking off this Thursday at 8 pm. Come and try your luck against the best, if you beat us, then you’re doing something right!

As always, have fun with it and enjoy the week

Hi all,

Fantazzle Weekly Fantasy Sports Games was fortunate enough to be on Fighting Chance Fantasy football podcast last night, Midnight Oil (and the name is true to form as it was at midnight). No worries, you can listen to all the shows on Fantazzle’s fantasy sports community page. We have the latest podcast available there every day for your enjoyment. Besides Fighting Chance’s midnight fantasy football podcast, they also offer a football podcast on Tuesday (8pm ET) and Sunday morning (9:30am ET).

I thank Ryan and Jeff for the opportunity to talk about fantasy football. I can do that all day. I won’t lie, but it’s also great to get some words in about Fantazzle in the process. We were able to discuss the current Steve Smith free fantasy football games we are offering and the sponsorship we have with Steve’s 2010 Pro Bowl Football Promotion (sign up to win 2 free tix to the Pro Bowl, dinner with Steve, airfare and hotel stay). Plus we talked about how the fantasy football playoffs have or are about to start and how a lot of teams now have no one to root for on Sunday. Fantazzle’s weekly fantasy football games takes care of that issue since you can play games from week to week and always have some kind of fantasy football action happenin’.
